As a Native/Indigenous therapist, I work with an understanding that therapy doesn't look the same as the books. I make sure to work through a trauma-informed lens, keeping in mind that we all experience trauma differently. Through my work in private practice, I aim to work with BIPOC folks like myself and provide a safe, non-judgmental space to help normalize seeking and receiving mental health support in our communities.
My years of experience comes from working through a variety of settings such as residential treatment facilities, community and tribal mental health, and the department of human services. From these experiences comes an understanding that cultural competence is important. I hold a bachelor’s degree in both Criminal Justice and Psychology from Southern Oregon University and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Bastyr University.
I use a person-centered, holistic approach to my therapy, with an understanding that treatment means considering the whole you, not just your mental health. I believe you are the expert of yourself, and I am here to help guide you to your goals. I tend to use techniques and interventions from Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Multicultural therapy, and more.
